I'm planning on rebinding the "muginator" rod with some new guides as the ones on her are as old as some of our members.
Im looking for some thoughts on as to what type of guides I could or should be placing back on her.
Paul
ps...and before some smartass comes out with it I dont think I can bind on "girl giudes" lol!

Hey Paul,

I would go for Fuji BYLG (single foot guide) or Fuji BSVLG (double foot) or Fuji BSVOG (double foot), all descent bang for buck guides, you can get other cheapies but they wont last like the Fuji's. Personally I would go for the single foot BYLG, matching tip would be BPLT or BLLT (from memory). Depending on the real and line you wish to use on the old beast I would start with a size 25-30 striping guide and step it down to size 7's through the tip. If you want any advice on how to set your rod up or where to get the components give me a buzz, I may even have a few guides (possibly a whole set) here that I can give you.

Cheers,
Al

thanks for all that Al....you cant go past fuji guides in my book too...
binding those single foot guides look like a pain in the ass as I've never bound that style of guide before...allways been doubles.
as for the size of guides I want to keep them as small as possible apart from the stripper...did I say stripper.....DOWN NED!!!! lol!
I'll give you a ring and we'll sort it out.

Hey Mug, it's very easy to bind single foot guides, half the work of binding double foot guides Laughing . Just cut some masking tape into thin strips to secure the guide to the blank before you bind it, bind up to the tape rip the tape off and finish your bind. Just give me a call and I'll help you out with guide sizes etc...

Cheers,
Al

I will second Alan's comment about it being a lot less work than double foot guides Paul. If you are interested I can also help you out and give you a couple of tips for a cool decorative binding for above the front grip if you like.

sounds good Dan...Al's got some guides and a tip to toss in too so I'll gather up the ingredients and cook up a storm again.
