Supertuning your boat?
Hey guys, looking for some ideas on 'supertuning' your boating setup.
Got some 'insane' info from Kyle an hour ago just looking for some more pics of your own rigs. So far I have upgraded the port and starboard lights to LED, rod holders ect. Just the basic stuff.
Getting the decks built up higher atm and then after that ground LED, Electric motor and a better sounder is on the plans so is a painted hull.
So common, show us your rigs.

if you are going to paint the hull, make sure that you spare no expence on the prep work. especially since the boat has already seen salt water.
if you don't, the paint will bubble and peel off.
i'd leave it the way it is, much more practical.
if i can sort out my posting photos thing, i'll put up some of my boat.
certainly a custom fitout, brand new boat (sea jay 4.35 magnum) i brought the boat home and the first thing i did was take to the hull with a grinder! (then a hole saw, jig saw, .....)
it suits me and what i do with it

Re: Supertuning your boat?
This has been my fishing partner for 11 years now i got a loan for this boat when it was new back in 1999 and i was 17 it used to be towed behind my $150 gemini . A few things done to it over the past few years with upgrades including a furuno fcv620 / raymarine A60 / 55lb minn kotta/ new floor / hydrolic steering/ rod storage ect. And last week i have ordered a new sealink trailer and a 75hp optimax that will be on the back by late next month.

Re: Supertuning your boat?
ok, here we go.
the boat was ordered as a bare tinny with only the two cross thwart seats,
shortened up the front & remade the anchor well to make the front casting deck
twin battery system (and storage) inside the front seat/80ltr bin under the front deck
fuel tank inside the rear seat/55ltr esky doubles as the live bait tank/bilge pump access
electrics include 55lb thrust minn kota, 2x12v sockets, a switch for everything (except on the float switch for the bilge pump), 2 sounders, bait pump, cockpit led's, underwater led's
and telescopic overhead fluro's
extra underwater led's
with the exception of the vertical panels and the sections on top of the original seats, every other section of flooring is removable without needing tools and can be done on the water if needed.
hope this might help with some ideas of what is possible

Re: Supertuning your boat?
Boys,
Love your work, certainly some inspiration there for my old tinnie. She’s a pretty stock standard V-nosed punt that I have had for about ten years. I stuck front and rear casting platforms in her pretty early on, but not a lot else has been changed. One thing I have always wanted to sort out is better rod storage. Grahame, dig your tubes going through the front thwart - good idea, although still would not really work to well on mine because I have got these storage areas on both sides.
Before I think about pimping the old girl up a little she needs a bit of tenderness though, as I have split the weld down the stinger and I need to get it re welded as it lets in waaaaayy too much water.
Blurting around in bay chop does that to flat bottom boat eventually – crack the boat and ya butt.

Re: Supertuning your boat?
Heya fellas, thought ill update a bit.
Just cut and about to get my mate to weld my alloy for the decks on, im lucky because so far it hasnt cost much, the alloy was only $60 and my mate is welding for free. The carpet will also be fairly cheap as I have a few mates in bcf.
Ill post a few pics when its all done.

Re: Supertuning your boat?
very nice job on the floors.......
might i make a suggestion though, unless you are sliding tackle trays between the seat and the main floor, close the gap. it is amazing how easy it is to loose sinkers, fish, crabs, etc. down that gap, and then how much of a pain in the ass it is to try to get them out again
may be another boat to join in our occasional 'sunday social outings' ??????
