you will find that across our members all the different styles of eging are used.
they all work, you just need to find the one that suits you and the jigs that you are using.
not all jigs work the same ....

I mostly fish shallow water and like to use a walk the dog style retreive or a suttle short jerk style. In deeper water I like to use a long jerk much like the Japanese do but not as aggressive, I also like to use walk the dog type retreive in deeper water. If things are slow I use a mix of all retreive styles and experiment until I find what is working.

Re: Retrieves what do people use?
hey guys,
im new here and i like to use a 3 lift retrive when im squidding.
in shallow i use yo-zuri flash dancers and any jig that sinks slowly and darts from side to side. but when i fish deep it more of a 3 lifts sort of agressively.
but i always mix it up if im not catching.
cheers

I tend to mix it up, tends to get those fickle little guys who spend ages lookin and poking at your jig, like G said they all work changing jigs changing retrieves, thats my plan of attack, and i use the word plan loosely.. haha

it's never over.....just really slow while the water is dirty, if it cleans up the squid will be back.Partizan Fk wrote:Interesting ive bought a dvd and ive been checking things out.I think il have to practice pity the season is over.Ill wait till next season.

Re: Retrieves what do people use?
i find 2 hard fast jigs for jigs that just go straight up but not from side to side like the yamashita jp's and the daiwa brand ones that i don't know the name of. For jigs that dart in shallow water i use 2 jerks because i don't want the jig to get too far away from the squid and in deep water from about 3 metres and deeper i do 3 jerks. the action you use does not realy mater but you need to be reasnable you don't want to scare the squid and you don't want the jig to get too far away from the squid as well when you are jigging it. good luck i hope you find your style
