Re: Yamashita light eging
Thanks again Andy,
I think this style of eging is relevant to us SE Qld land based squidos as we are mostly fishing shallow areas and the squid are quite small compared to squid caught in other parts of the country and around the world .
Cheers,
Alan

small size?!!? Shit I use them to catch 500gm to 800gm squid all the time. Just something smaller to match the baitfish around.
Re: Yamashita light eging
Exactly Honsu you need to match the hatch, 500-800 gram squid are still small (big for our areas) squid in my opinion when you compare them to the larger models of 1kg-2 kg + models that are common in other areas.
Sure the smaller squid will take larger jigs but in my experience you get a better catch rate with the smaller sized jigs and less aggressive style of working the jig and if there are big squid around they will take small jigs also.
I think there are some great tips the on videos, especially for the guys starting out , that's why I asked Andy if he could post them up for me when I came across them yesterday.
I 'm not saying this is the only way to fish, it's just another great technique to have in your arsenal when out targeting squid.
Cheers,
Alan

yamashita egi.
I really like the clear jigs, liked them so much I bough the full colour set in the clears. they seem more like a bait fish than a prawn, the action is sharp and they have an internal flash which at first you dont see until you rotate the jig.
Also bought the new yamshita light rod, little bit stiffer than the previous model, says up to 2.2 but cast a 3.0 and it was fine, best on the 2.5 jigs.
