went for a bass fish

Post  kaspar1501 on Mon Oct 31, 2011 9:13 am

yesterday me and my mate as well as his dad went for a bass fish in maroon dam did alright i brougth the egi rod and reel along and used beetle spins on it during the day and got 2 bass on the beetle spins that were 40 and 43cm both on the egi rod it was an awsome rod for bass fishing it got great distance and had great sencitivity and strength. as the light dropped i got out the yellow mega bass dog x and got 1 bass on the surface but after a hour and a half of surface fishing with only one bass and 2 spangled perch we decided to go home after fishing from 2pm-6pm we all got 3 bass each with the biggest being 45cm caught by my mates dad adrew. not a bad seshion we were supprised that there were so many spangled perch but the bass where really fat and healthy.

Nice work Kaspar, love bass fishing, I had the itch last week so went out and scratched it up at Northpine for a few hours, got plenty of big angry bass and a few yella's on spinnerbaits, jackals and surface (bubble pops, sk's and dog x's), had a ball. All fish caught land based, next time I'm going to take the yak out so I can cover more ground.

Cheers,

there are some big bass in the pine system but since the lilly pads have dissapeared down stream alot of my good afternoon surface spots are gone and i have not been back since november. there are quite a few bass in the pine i've been there land based and done ok just a few, about 5-6 was my best seshion but this was last year after they opened the dam wall around september, october. aparently there is a good spot up steam of youngs crossing for the kayak, i think there is a weir up there that produces but it gets hammerd by kayakers. down stream last year in september i started using the kayak i got on average in the afternoon 2-3 big bass and quite a few small ones and the odd mangrove jack. i would love to go back there for a good bass sesh as well as up near dabourer for bass and cod, if any of you are going in the near future give me a yell.
