Sumizoku 2.5 Jig Review
Hey Guys
I was given some jigs to try by our sponsor Peter at Fish on Pro.The jig is the Sumizoku 2.5 AK.When first receiving this jig i thought black jig interesting how do i use it.I pulled the jig out of the packet and inspected the foil color.Guys no foil color but a clear dark red.One of the weirdest colors i would have to say.The cloth has a came-lien look with some green glitter to sparkle. The white stripes add a dimension by glowing UV.These Japs can sure make them.
I have been throwing this jig out at night with no success stupid me i didn't check that this is a daytime jig In the next couple of days ill give it a crack daytime and really put it through its paces
I have though had a purple based Sumizoku 2.5MM in my bag for about a year so i thought id throw that out yes guys purple As some members may not know purple is the go to color as is red when hunting and things are quiet.Simuzoku really finish these jigs with class the prawny print on the cloth is first class giving the squid and added enticement. Cast ability of this jig is fantastic.I took this jig to one of my secret spots when things were quiet so out came the jig.
Three blind casts and bang hit.I was stoked nothing better than when everything comes together and all the stars align.I got the squid in a nice 420g.I cast out again .I find on retrieve the action of the jig to be fantastic. No drag on the jig it glides without effort. The action is unbelievable its darts with a flutter and lovely tight z pattern so walking the dog is a breeze. When retrieving the jig you wouldn't thing the jig was still on your line that's how streamline it is.Some guys might like the drag factor but i think after 50 or so casts this will aid in fatigue.Guys seriously these jigs are fantastic.Three more casts and i was on again.Another 400+ grammer.
Guys i don't know what else to say about this product but it does what its meant to with class and results.
These jigs were provided by Fish On Pro for test and are available for BEC member's with the generous 10% discount.

Re: Sumizoku 2.5 Jig Review
Nice review Ned
I used these almost exclusively a couple of seasons ago with very good results, more so with a high hop and letting them glide down rather than a darting action.
however i found the only drama is that the crowns are quite stiff and brittle and are easy to break. If you break off enough points it will affect the balance of the jig a little bit
They are very good jigs though

Re: Sumizoku 2.5 Jig Review
Same Grahame my 2.5's and a couple of the 3.0's have alot of prongs missing and i think it's due to the prongs being high in carbon, making them snap easy. You are able to buy spare sumizoku prongs from fish on pro but it is a bit too pricey and if you add any old prongs i'm pretty sure it will affects the action of the jig. That's the only issue that i've had with the jigs but as for catching sumizoku jigs seriously catch squid and the action is really good.

Yep me too, love them, used em with lots of success season before last, then I lost one of my favorite colours and couldn't replace it. I'll have to talk to Peter and see which ones he has.

Good review Ned. Yamashita show in their product catalogue the colours that relate to activity, lighting and water clarity, etc. Does anyone know how to relate this information to the Sumikozu's, as these jigs are so different? In other words the jig you tried an AK, would you use it at night or day, clear or muddy water, high or low activity?

Re: Sumizoku 2.5 Jig Review
If you go on thier site and click on the web page and the jig your interested in it tells you.Day time. Not sure about water clarity.
As for the pins breaking im not sure what went wrong. But i like the fact that you can change the pins when they get blunt so you can get extra life out of your jig.I guess fishing in rocky spots doesnt help but ive had the ass end snap completely off two jigs from a well known jig brand so i dontr think there is a perfect jig.The more expensive brand i wontr say waht the pins started rusting.
Ill see how it goes guys thanks for the heads up.

Re: Sumizoku 2.5 Jig Review
Hey guys just saw this, great review Ned. I have used colour AK during the day in overcast situations with very good success, I have also used it very early morning with very little light and caught as well. I must admit though the purples are my favourite colour.
