What are your thoughts on Pflueger's new ultra lightweight finesse reels??

Some great features on them.
Carbon handle shank with EVA knob
Shallow finesse drag spool with rubber inserts so braid tie to the spool dont slip.
Mg alloy body and rotor construction.

I agree. Looks pretty sweet, but it does kinda look like they made a half Steez half Branzino rip off

When Jeryl sees this he should have some info. I think he might have tested one.

I had a play with one the other night at FH, I must say it looks nice from far but up close and personal it just doesn't feel light or nimble, if you know what I mean? It feels heavy/slow at start up, and it doesn't look as refined up close. For the dollars I reckon a Luvias or Fuego would be a better buy.

Bear in mind, it is a fairly high geared reel at 6.2:1, hence the heavy startup (high inertia).
I dont think the Luvias/Fuego is gonna be any more refine than this. The Pflueger looks to be a better value reel than the Daiwas. The Luvias/Fuego are around $400. The Pflueger is $300.

If it wasnt for the high gear ratio I wouldve got one by now.

Is it only $300? I thought it was more around the same price as the Fuego/Luvias. I have to say if it's only $300 and you are after that type of gearing then it would be pretty cool, it certainly looks like bling all over, very shiney! Very Happy
