2011 CLUB COMPETITIONS

Hello all, firstly we wish you all had a merry christmas, and a happy new year!

Our club competitions will kick off with round 1 in march, and be held on a monthly basis through to a final round in august.
for those members that fished in the comps last year, you will notice a few minor changes to the format, making it easier for everyone to join in.
some of the more noteable changes is the moving of competitions to weekends instead of having midweek rounds, and whilst we are still finalising the dates, times and locations for each round, these will be posted as soon as they are available.
also the drawing of the teams will be done in a way to try to team up less experienced anglers with more experienced one's to make each round fairer for all competitors.
we encourage all members to come along and participate in the comps, as they are a social event to meet other members, see some new equipement and have a few laughs, as well as the competition for overall club champion.

Just became a BEC member couple weeks ago so my first time competing in this comp. Manly is my home turf so looking forward to competing with everyone

I am keen to participate. I may not be able to make all rounds, as I work away frequently. Is it okay to enter and fish the dates when I am available?

you can fish in as many (or few) of the comps as you want. each round is a seperate event with the points tallyed at the end of the season for the overall club champion.
i guess that there is a serious side to the competitions, but most of us come along for the fun, have a few laughs and enjoy the fishing

I'll be there for sure, I'm thinking we might have to push the first round back a month though to start in April, after the recent floods I think we will need that time for the water to clean up.

I've been down to the harbour a few times over the past week and the water is filthy , so much that the fish bailed out on it too and it's going to be some time before it's clear enough for squid.
bring on the prawns and fish , it should be (unacceptable language)' after this stir up.

no dates yet mate, we have been a bit slack to be honest. The organizers still have to get together and work it all out. We will let you all know whats happening over the coming weeks.

les, there have been some dates penciled in, but not confirmed as yet.
i will be heading down the gold coast in the next few weeks for a look around and to make a decision on the proposed dates for the first round which are scheduled in for towards the end of march down the gold coast.

we will definately keep everyone informed on the dates once they are available

G'day Guys,

It seems there has been a bit of a communication breakdown and I'm trying to get it sorted.

No decisions have been made yet. But the comps may be starting sometime in April rather than March. We wont be making any decisions as to dates and locations until we are able to get together when Andy gets back from holidays in a couple of weeks time, we will let everyone know what we have decided then.

at the rate the water is clearing up march is not out of the question and a work mate that lives on Macleay Island says they have been catching squid down the southern end at the jetty and boat ramp so things cant be that dirty now.

Its March guys any idea as to comp dates yet?Water is looking slightly clearer.

im keen to go, but my transportation is limited, as i only ride a dinky economical yet nerdy 50CC scooter, and cant make it too far =)

I live in the sandgate region, so Shorncliffe, Woody point , redcliffe areas are all fine for me, unless someone else is from around Sandgate that has a spare seat =)
