Morethan Branzino 3000 + ?
Hey all, purchasing a Branzino in the up coming weeks, looking for a bay combo to suit the newly bought boat.
Target species will be longtails, snaps ect. Been looking at a few rods to suit, need something that will take abuse, have a lot of strength, I need the length to be around 7ft to suit the flat fishing I will be doing. Looking at a GLX atm, but open to suggestions, might even go custom.
Cheers stotty

Hey Stotty,
I use an Egrell S10 and certate 3500hd for casting plastics to longtails, I have been chasing lontails for around 15 years and this is the best combo I have used. The branzino would go nice on an S10. For casting slugs and heavy stick baits I use an Egrell bear essential and saltiga 4500 maverick which is another top combo. If you want to check out the gear I use or get some tips or spots for longtails shoot me a pm . There's plenty of longies out there atm, I got 5 last Friday ranging from 10kg to just over 15kg. What boat did you get ?
Cheers,
Alan

Hey Alan,
Nice advice, im still not commited into buying the Branzino so a certate could be on the cards, which will also leave me the money for the rod. I have heard of a few ppl now getting into the LT of here atm, sounds like you had a great sesh.
Ended up buying a 4.1mtr Ally Craft Rhino,
I'll shoot you a pm mate.
Cheers Stotty

Yeah mate, for the price of the branzino you could buy a new 3000 certate or an older model 3-4000 plus a an S10 either the Egrell or the bear model and probably line as well. I highly recommend the S10 after all it was designed for soft plastic fishing for lontails and snaps by someone who does allot of that style of fishing.
The rhinos are a good little boat and you shouldn't have a problem getting out to the tuna grounds in it, though like me (400 hornet) you will have to pick your days when heading out .
Cheers,
Alan

I've got a 3000 Branzino on a Megabass F3 1/2 Jade Python. It also suits my S4 Egrell nicely. I've got the smaller 2508 Exist Branzino on a Steez Power Junkie. All of these have handled metre + Barra and I got a 30lb Yellowfin on the Jade Python. The Steez Hot Dog would probably also suit you needs.

Nice touch on the boat with the Bow Lights mounted so as not to glare back at the driver.
I'm no egi expert at this stage so will stay out of advising on rods and gear LOL.

don't be blinded by the big D mate, i'd take a stella SW 5k. high ratio much better suited for the bay work, plus the drag is on another planet. i got a mate down your way who also uses his for light jigging work. very versatile
