Wow great site, thanks for posting it up.

This sucker would burn the eyes out of squid, or even light up Peel Island all the way from Cleveland LOL. http://www.ledtorches.com.au/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=175 Wow, 1,200 lumens down to 1 Lumen, now thats what I call "fully adjustable" - aggh, just another christmas wish list LOL.

"Most" torches and lanterns regardless of halogen, fluro or LED are only in the 250 -300 lumen range. Shocked

it's all about the 'efficiency' of the lights, or lumens per watt
most led lights are around 95% efficient. the led chip itself doesn't emitt heat because there is no filament. the losses are more a result of the circuit that drives the led.

"The LED is based on the semiconductor diode. When a diode is forward biased (switched on), electrons are able to recombine with holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence."

there will be constant improvement in lighting over the coming years, i have a single CREE MC-E led that produces 790 lumen (without a lens or reflector). the only thing i need to do is get around to manufacturing the housing to suit (submersible with touch switching).

these torches sound expensive, however i can't source the components for the price they sell them for.

high power will burn the retinas out of your sockets,
on low power it is a nice dull glow

the torch is definately a bloody bright one

Just have to plug these guys.. I ordered a fenix hp20 a couple of months ago. and it arrived next day. then a few weeks ago it started to play up (connection in the battery box must have come loose) emailed them and they said to send it back. sent it last wed and received a brand new one this morning.

They have pretty good customer service and quick delivery. I didnt even have to pay for return postage.

If you are in need of a new torch or headlamp deff have a look at these guys.

Hey Aaron,

I have had the H14 for around a week and have played around with it a bit and find it really good with allot of cool features that I'll never use but none the less they are cool features Cool . It's is super bright on full power, even brighter than my P7 handheld (you've seen it in action) but you can dim it down to your desired level of brightness, also has a focusable beam which allot of head torches don't have. Runs on AA batteries so you get a really good run time, also on the battery pack you have a power indicator light that changes colour to let you know what percentage of battery power you have left. You can either wear the battery pack on the back of the head strap or you can use the extension cable to wear the pack down on you belt, I have opted to wear the pack on my belt as it is less weight on my head plus I find it easier to access the on/off switch this way rather than reaching up behind my head to turn the torch on/off. I bough mine from Anaconda for $104 cos I'm impatient and wanted it then and there rather than wait for postage over the Easter break.

OH yeah it looks cool too Cool

Cheers,
Al

Going to bump this thread as I have recently purchased a H14 from these guys.

I called the contact number on their website at 1:30pm on thursday to check they had it in stock and could get it in the post that day. They confirmed this and said if I bought it in the next 30mins they would get it in the post (free postage aus post next bussiness day). So bought it for $95 and it arrived by 4pm friday.

Happy with the head torch and service from www.ledtorches.com.au
