New Member Night

We always seem to get a boost in membership this time of year, which is a good thing.
My question is........

is there enough interest from members new to the sport to hold an introduction night?


My thoughts would be to have a coupe of hours of show & tell / Q & A about rods, reels, lines, leaders, jigs, etc. seminar style to cover the basics, followed by a fishing session (weather depending).
You would get a chance to see and get touchy feely with the gear a lot of members use.
I am happy to donate my time, and depending on numbers we might be able to get some of the other 'senior' members involved as well.
It would be held sometime in March, with the date to be determined by conditions

its a great idea really interested in learning more

location will most likely be manly, being that it is fairly central
the date and time will be confirmed closer to the night, we are hoping for mid to late march if the conditions allow it.

We have had a few more memebers sign up this season dont be shy guys its a good opportunity to pick up afew tips before comp and social season starts.It will be good to see afew faces to names.

Bring your gear to fish with after the talk

We are focusing this for members new to the sport and will cover the basics of squid fishing. It will take up about 2 hours (depending on the amount of questions raised), with a short fishing session to follow if you would like to stay on.

My apologies I wont be able to make the 15th of march as I am away camping Friday Sat and SUn.

Sorry guys i'm not going to be able to make it on the 15th. really wanted to get to it. hope you run another one it would be great it'd be great to have one on the northside if at all possible just a thought.

Bit if bad luck all round there.........

There is not likely to be another of these nights before the comps start as suitable dates are limited
Why would north side be good???? Manly is a central location that suits what we want to do on the night.

The presentation is a delivery of the info that is already on this forum. It is not intended to be "go to this spot and use this jig" type of information, just assistance in being able to understand why we are able to catch squid and playing with some nice gear to do it with.
If someone can't make it on the 15th they will not be disadvantaged in the comps because you will be teamed up with someone more experienced regardless.

if I've got nothing on that night...ie...kids hockey.... I would be more than happy to come on down the hill and give up some time to help new members with another insight into the sport....as there are quite a few different ideas of how to catch squid...gear and jigs...torches and the likes.
another big heep of rain will put the season back a bit but we need the rain.....some years the squid have turned up while the water is still quite dirty....who knows.
